Hazardous Waste Day
Household Hazardous Waste Day
Every fall the district hosts a household hazardous waste collection day for all Weston County residents to bring their hazardous waste for proper recycling or disposal. The district does not charge residents for this service, but it is requested that people using this service offer a donation of money or food. Monetary donations will be used to purchase food vouchers from local grocery stores, so all donations go to the Bread Office.
When: The 2024 Hazardous Waste Day had to be canceled due to a scheduling error on the part of the environmental services contractor. We are seeking a different contractor and will attempt to reschedule for the spring of 2025. We apologize to everyone who was affected by the last-minute cancellation.
Location: Newcastle Elementary School parking lot
Time: 10 am to 1 pm
Donations
While we don’t charge for this service, we do ask that anyone bringing items for disposal please also bring food to donate to the Bread Office, our local food bank distribution in Weston County.
Any non-perishable item may be donated, but the following items are especially helpful:
-
Canned goods: vegetables, fruits, soups, milk, etc.
-
Baking items: flour, sugar, powdered milk, baking soda, etc.
-
Boxed baking mixes
-
Packaged items: drinks, cereal, and snack items
-
Diapers, wipes, personal hygiene items, and toiletries
