Description
Both varieties are available in lots of 25 10-24″ bare root plants. Common lilac is also available as a single plant in a 5-gallon pot.
Syringa vulgaris – Common Lilac
Syringa villosa – Villosa Lilac
Size: Common – 8-16 ft tall, Villosa – 6-10 ft tall
Drought Resistance: Moderate to Excellent
Cold Hardiness: Excellent
Growth Rate: 1-2 feet per year
Lifespan: 25-50 years
Wildlife Value: Great for pollinators, birds, and numerous small animals
Misc.: The two varieties are very similar. Villosa lilac, also called “late lilac”, is smaller and blooms later in the season than common lilac.
